~20mi hike within a couple hours of Denver

I was looking back through a notebook of hikes I did during the years I lived and worked in Colorado…..every single hike I did for that 3.5 year involved climbing 14ers or other mountains. I never even thought much about it.

I earned a merit badge for a rich client’s son by building a big composting bin without the kid’s help. My hat’s off to you for actually doing the 20 miles. For anyone young or old, 20 miles is a good walk. It will change his perspective going forward and open up some long hikes he otherwise wouldn’t attempt. Good job.

I’d do some 14rs if he wanted but he said no on that thought so we’ll cruise a lil lower.

How about the High Lonesome Loop by Nederland or the Junco Loop by Grand Lake? There's also the Peaks to Plains trail that's mostly downhill. I know they are working on sections of it in Clear Creek Canyon between Golden and Blackhawk. Not much of a hike though.
