20in 7prc powder choice

I'm also interested in what more people are getting out of their 20" PRC barrels. I'm on the cusp of ordering a 20" proof carbon and running my Ultra 7.

I'm getting 2800 with 180 vldh and 69.9 grains of grand with a 20" Bartlein. No pressure. No idea where pressure is. Just loaded book max and it shot well so no changes.

Have you dabbled with any other bullets than the 180 vld's? If so, what speeds have you achieved?

I'm curious how the 195 Bergers would run in a 20", but I'm also not sure if you would get optimal performance due to slower speeds compared to going with a 24".

How did the N560 work out?

I shot it next to N565 and H4831SC with Berger 168’VLD-H and 175 EH and Hornady 162 CX and ans 175 ELD-X

The N560 gave me 10 shot 1 MOA group at 2821. 0.34 mean radius. That one hanging out there to the right was the 10th shot and I rushed it a little.

Damn! Great shooting! What charges did you try out?

Some of the other PRC guys might be able to better answer this but I'd think N570 might become the powder of choice when dropping to a 20" or shorter barrel. You might need to do a side by side with H1000 when you have a 20" barrel

See I’m hearing different where N570 is working well with >22” barrels and N560 is better for
I’ve gotten decent results out of N570. I’m getting 2825 with 175gr at 71gr and 2770 with 195gr at 70gr. I’ll report back once I get some loads worked up with the N560.
