2026 Snowpack thread

I went for a hike last week up near Augusta. You could drive in 15 miles further than last year, and the deepest snow i encountered was maybe 18". Pretty sad!

We’re sitting good here in AK for snowfall/pack, with most if not all, areas in the state above normal, but it’s the extreme cold weather that is really setting a persistent. This winter, across the state, has been the coldest we’ve seen in the last 55 years. The only rival is the winter of 1970/71. It was -45° in areas around Fairbanks last night.

Well up high in north central Idaho did good this week. Lolo pass was a lane wide this morning.

Lower down has been pretty fugly today. Lots of flooding and mudslides.

Been watching logs float down the Clearwater River today.

Runoff is going into full swing 2 months early at the Colorado Headwaters with SWE/snowpack at record lows.

1-2 inches of snow tomorrow with record temperatures throughout the entire state this week. Denver is supposed to be 90 F lol!
