Why Europe? The best teams are South American so that should be the real test.Reserve judgment until you've played a European team.
Well we were originally talking about the U.S. versus other countries and now its the U.S. versus other Continents. We should probably pick one and keep it consistent. What, all 2 of them?
Brazil and Argentina are the only 2 that have won a cup after Uruguay's 2nd win in 1950
Are people in this thread really arguing that other countries produce athletes at any scale comparable to the U.S.? How many Olympic medals do we need to win to show the difference.
Heck the U.S. doesn't really even care about Soccer and yet we still qualify for the World Cup almost every time.
If we had the same culture around Soccer that we did with Football or Basketball, then we'd be blowing teams out of the water. All of these "Soccer" countries with all of these "great" athletes haven't been looking so great this year.

Producing elite athletes is one of our superpowers. We are pretty much competitive/win in every single sport on the planet. Most countries only have maybe 1-2 sports they excel at. Some aren't good any sports. Even in hockey we just won a gold medal and it isn't even a popular sport here. The Woman’s team has won the most world cups of any nation.Lane is a fookin’ genius.
Well played USA. Australia are back to normal.

I agree mostly with your list, but Spain has got to be much better to have a chance at winning.USA is a good team and I think it showed most of the game. We have very solid and experienced players at every position including some speed and skilled technical players. Australia looked good towards the end of the game. Aus had more legs at the end probably because they used their subs a little earlier than the US. Looked like we may have gotten a little tired.
I think Australia has a very good chance at going through as Paraguay looks like they are going to struggle if they need to go forward in attack. I think Australia can hit teams on the counter with the speed they have up front and I think that will work against a Paraguay team that may need to win in Australia v Paraguay in Game 3. USA should rest some starting players and avoid cards since they have clinched the group with a game to spare. A great position to be in for the USA.
As far as people talking about which teams are good or better than others. Here is my tier list. I tried to get the S and A tiers in somewhat in a ranking relative to each other but from B tier down I just threw them in. All S tier teams are serious contenders as potential winners. Any team in the A tier have a reasonable chance to go to Quarters and with some contenders for the Semis but a run to the finals is a long shot for these teams. B Tier teams will be happy to get out of their group and thrilled to win a knockout game. C and D Tier are happy to be here and making out of the group is a major achievement.
