2026 NRL Hunter Thread

Anyone going to the anti defiance shoot this weekend? This will be my first NRL and super excited but panicking slightly. :ROFLMAO:
Won't be there, but I've heard that it's one of the best matches/venues of the season. Almost everyone is awesome in this sport though, so no need to panic. Assuming you're in skills, ask lots of questions, watch the best guys in your squad and how they manage their equipment, etc.

Ya I'm not too worried, enough to make it exciting. Done a fair amount of local PRS but first time with added pressure of how nrl does it. Went ahead and dove in on open heavy. Not many opportunities here in Montana and for price difference skills didn't make sense to me.

Got my shit kicked in at NRL but getting some experience will definitely help with the next one. RO's definitely gave me some good coaching. I did it for the Experience Challenge which had me run my hunting set up. The ultralight hunting set-up has way to many con's at an event like this though.

Welcome to the club, its eye opening and ego maiming experience for sure. Good on you for putting yourself out there

I really want to do one of these matches. Seems like at this point in the year there isn't a lot left without travelling. I am in NW MT so it looks like there is a couple in MT, couple in ID and at least 1 in eastern WA. I shall start planning for a 2027 participation and prepare myself to be humbled. I think I pretty much have enough gear to just come shoot, or a reason to build a 25 Creed Haha!

Looking to sell my spot for leupold relentless hunter match this weekend. Had some stuff come up and unfortunately probably best to skip this one. Private message me if you’re interested in it. Spot is for open heavy. I’m just trying to get my money back for it.

Ran a sold out NRL Hunter Games match at cameo last weekend. Ended up being a bit tougher than I intended it to be. We had a LOT of first timers. Everyone had a good time though!

Hosting another one on July 18th. I'll make sure it's a bit simpler.

Clint, I shot the match on squad 6 and chatted with you for a bit waiting on stage 11 I think. My thoughts are below not that you asked. I’m a very average shooter and finished mid-pack so hopefully it’s decent feedback from the average shooter.
  • Amazing venue and well ran match. You and Clark did a great job and thank you again!
  • ROs were fantastic and kept shooters moving quickly. Match flow was very good.
  • Target finding difficulty level and stages were well designed. Not too easy and just a couple very difficult ones to find to help separate scores.
  • Good mix of prone and positional stages.
  • It was a challenging match and it was mainly 2 items for me.
    • Wind was low but switchy all day. I was only able to use a consistent wind hold for the duration of a stage maybe half the time. The stages I did the best on were closer targets with less wind effect and ones where I made a good first guess on wind and it held consistently. This is out of your control and makes for good practice and humbles shooters on their wind calling ability.
    • Target sizes for the distance placed were smaller than other NRL that I’ve seen and almost closer to PRS sized on some. This was the biggest area of improvement I think you could use to lower match difficulty for the next one. Stage 7 in particular was brutal with very small pigs at 6-700 yards and the scores showed it.
Somehow stage 12 was my only clean and I still don’t understand how that happened when it was one of the lowest scoring stages. 😝 The mover stage was very cool also to have at an NRL match. You did a great job and thank you again for what you’re doing for the community. We’re lucky to have you!

thanks for the feedback! wind at cameo is always a bit switchy. Another good reason I need to adjust the target size for the range to be a bit more forgiving.
