I will echo what others have said. I enjoyed the match. This is only my second shoot, I did Mason Valley NRL earlier this year. How'd it go? Thoughts?
I enjoyed the sliding scale which benefited people shooting higher power factors and lighter rifles. I was able to shoot my hunting rifle in almost its exact setup as I carried it last year(only difference was 10rd mag, bipod being attatched and a Muzzle brake). That made for better practice and tangible improvements in shooting confidence and ability with my actual hunting rifle in relatively realistic field scenarios.
Weigh in/Check in and velocity were the same as NRL hunter.
The course of fire was fun and they had a variety of steel targets of which all were realistic animals with realistic target positions with the exception of one stage that just had gongs and squares(also fun too).
I liked the idea of the "vitals" targets and I think they were well recieved by all.
The additional 2nd glassing position added a little extra to the aspect of time management.
The stages were set in a way that that didn't favor a specific shooting stance, I used everything from Prone/Bipod to Standing with a tripod.
The Prize table was really good, I got a great prize even though I finished in the middle of the pack.
Food was good on both days.
Overall a good experience with a great group of guys, I am definitely planning on shooting it again next year. I will continue to improve/evaluate my gear and skills so that I can be more competitive next time.
