We'll be camping at Blue Ridge if any Roksliders will be there!

Looks like squadding is open for Blue Ridge. Are you in one yet? Let's get a few Roksliders in there.

I jumped in 14! I could change if everyone is in something different though! I just picked an empty one for me and my buddy to hop into.

The Laramie one day match yesterday was pretty fun! Super windy conditions gave me a lot of good practice holding wind and getting away from “edge of plate” measuring sticks. Made a couple mental mistakes, one adjusting my wind hold the wrong direction, and another forgetting to dial for the first shot (first time for that)

The Rokslide squad did well relative to the field though. Jonnyviceroy took first in open light and it was his first NRL hunter match I believe!

Had a brisket on for 15 hours and needed something to do.

It’s more oriented toward PRS, but I made a practice barricade I can easily pack in the truck. It’s hinged and folds onto itself; and locks in solid when unfolded. Dowels slide in and out as needed for storage. I need to find tune a couple things but very pleased with the portability aspect and how solid it all locks up. I’ll get it stained or painted soon. Plan is to use it on 1” dots at the 100 range to practice position setup and moving. Will also haul into the mountains to a few of my long range spots as time permits.

Still need to adjust my tall height a tad lower and install another chain or prop.

You camping? Seems like there is a few of us here.

Myself and a couple others from work are shooting the match together as well as camping both nights. It was a great shoot last year. Can't wait!

I'll be the homeless looking fella in the old red Toyota Pickup with a black topper.

If anyone ends up not able to go to Buffalo Bills Revenge two day match and has a spot to sell I think I have talked a buddy into going if he could get a spot and would buy it.

Not an NRL hunter match but a very similar format. Sportsman series match. They have some in Nebraska, Colorado, and now Wyoming. Field style match. Find, range, and engage targets from 100-1000 in Lagrange Wyoming. Should be a fun shoot. I signed up for it since it’s close to home. Registration just opened for it. I think the only gun restrictions are under 18 pounds, 22-30 cal under 3200 fps.

I hadn't heard of these till this morning and I might try to drag a buddy to this one. I've shot the Laramie NRL Hunter match a few times and this looks like a blast.

My buddy is unable to attend Blue Ridge in a few weeks. He’s not looking to get his money back. Let me know if anyone is looking for a free skills slot. Bonus if they are a youth/mil/vet/new shooter/lady, etc... May have to sign in under his name, I’ll ask how official swaps work but that’ll be worst case.

*Spot is spoken for with a newer shooter. Thanks!

If anyone is interested, I have a spot for Burning Mountain starting tomorrow. I got sick and can't make it. Bummed, because I'm sure Jaden is going to put on a great match.

I'll be at the Blue Ridge shoot well! I missed the sign up, so I'll be an RO and shoot on Friday.

Also planning to shoot the Blue Mountain Big Game Hunter (La Grande, OR) and the Hornady Precision Hunter (Price, UT) if anyone wants to squad up.
See you Friday for RO day
Sean puts on an awesome match, expect some wind!

Just did my first NRL match of any kind. Shot the Games match in Mountain home.

All I can say is:

I had a blast and I was able to avoid completely embarrassing myself (pretty much my goals of the day).

Gear wise, it worked out okay:

I just had a handheld RF but now consider RF binos almost required equipment. For NRL-style, on board ballistics would be nice but I don’t think it is critical with all my dope on an arm board.

A triple pull or similar bipod would have been really useful on a couple stages.

A 10-rd mag would have been really good. Mag changes in my Tikka weren’t bad but a little annoying.

Shooting wise, I confirmed my deficiencies:

Kneeling/standing tripod shots were really hard.

Improvised positions on the fly take A LOT of practice. Equipment can make this easier but I was able to make do with what I had pretty well.

All in all, I had a great time and learned a bunch. Not sure if I’ll be able to shoot another one this year but will be signing up for any other local matches next year.

It sounds like I’m in a similar situation as you. I have a hand held range finder and only a short Atlas bipod. I do have a tripod so I plan to do most of my shots from that. I have a smaller tripod that I use with my spotter. Do you think using the second tripod as rear support would help? I plan on practicing with both tripods over the next month or so, I’m just not sure how efficient I will be with time deploying both. Either way I’m gonna have fun and learn a lot.

Take this with a grain of salt as I have done exactly one 1-day match.

1, As long as your RF works out to 900 yards, you will be okay. Not great, but okay.

2, Regardless of what you choose, you need to be able to make a 4-500yd shot where there is no prone option nor other secondary (“prop”) support. I was unable to do this today and blanked a stage.

To the practice range I go……..🤣

Yes, I'll be in my blue F350 with Arctic Fox camper unless I decide to rough it and bring a tent. Then I will drive my Raptor. I'll be there Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Come and say hi!
