2026 Idaho Draw

Received the unsuccessful deer email at 2:30, holding out hope I'd draw elk. Well, at 5:35 i received the email that I didn't draw elk either!

Our group was unsuccessful in both Elk and Deer. We are hoping we can still make it out there to chase something with our licenses.

Pioneer B first and only choice for elk! , no deer tag .
Nice, I'm glad someone drew!

Did you intentionally put in for B? I had a buddy accidentally buy the B tag a couple of years ago not realizing that its a November cow only hunt

My party of three did not draw either of our elk choices.

We drew a deer tag for one of the units that was in my first choice elk zone, but don't think I will purchase the permit. Just liked the idea of having two tags in my pocket.

Also curious if anyone drew an elk tag with third or fourth choice

Man just think how much money IDFG made this year. In years past you would just buy the license and tag at the same time, if they were sold out you'd just hope to get a better spot in line next year.

This year they got tens of thousands of people to front $200 with out the chance to hunt. Should be good for their budget

Yup. Financially, it was a no-brainer for them to go this system.

I’m really interested in the stats after this draw to see how many people applied compared to the tags available.

As a resident, I have no skin in this game but I was 100% for the draw system.

That being said, the unintended consequence of this is that the NR draw odds in the controlled hunts are going to be much much much worse this year now that there are all these tag-less people with a license that are going to out in for that draw. Good luck to you if you are going for a CH in Idaho this year.

How will the return tag sale go after the controlled hunt draw? I would assume it would be back to the original way since residents can buy a second tag as well. first come first serve?

The second tag option for residents don't usually start until early August. I would imagine it will be pretty similar to years prior.
