2026 Goals

Get both of my knees replaced and hopefully get back to hiking and biking without extreme pain or restriction.

Depending on the knees, hunt Barbary sheep with my bow.

Due to decline in “western” hunting opportunities, start looking into DIY whitetail trips.

Make memories and take trips with my family (wife + 2 wonderful little girls), increase physical fitness level, grow leadership skills and behaviors at home and at work (starting a management role in corporate career in Jan 2026), read more non fiction books, wrap up some renovation projects in our home, start a nice garden this spring

Read more, scroll less.

Get archery practice back on track and shoot a nice big Wisc whitetail.

2500 miles of human propulsion- run, hike, bike.

Build myself a nice comfy late season gun deer blind.

Hunt a new state.

I’m just waiting for the draws to happen. I already have an Ontario bear hunt booked for June. Also have an Oregon Roosevelt elk hunt booked along with a KS whitetail this fall.

What are some of y’all’s goals for 2026? I saw a guy in the plus 60 club who tries to get in as many miles a year as the year. Which inspired me to ask this question.

Writing them down is the first step!
Cheers
Putting in range time to practice going from gear packed in my bag to putting a shot on target. I like practicing the rush of getting set up to make an accurate shot while tuning myself

To try to find a way to use my limited talents to help people. I work a meaningless factory job and I would like to do something that actually matters. Be less angry, less judgmental, closer to God. Try to be more appreciative of what I have. If I can make a little progress on all of those things, it will be a good year.

Break ground on my shop house and (hopefully) have it livable by winter. I'm sick and tired of lighting my money on fire every month when I go to pay rent.

I really want to spend more time out on the salt, but with less focus on killing fish and more so exploring the Prince William Sound area and all of the cool island spots I've been marking up on OnX but never actually put boots on the ground to see. I used to run guided jet ski expeditions out there, and I'd love to spend a few weekends just cruising around looking for stuff to go explore.

For hunting, I really hope I draw the any-bull moose permit for the unit that my property is in, so I can maybe get lucky and shoot one while I'm out there working on the build. Between work and trying to get that thing livable I don't think I'll have much time to get out to our normal hunting area otherwise.

Finally, my wife and I are expecting our first child (a girl) here in a couple weeks. My long term goal is to create a life for her that mirrors the way her mom and I were raised, and prioritize things like outdoor excursions and an emphasis on hunting/fishing being viewed as a privilege to keep the family fed while making the best memories imaginable. I feel like I'm ahead of the curve on this one, as she's not even born yet and already owns a pink four wheeler, a pink .22 savage rascal (which is how we found out the gender), and I'm struggling to hold myself back on starting a compact "youth" tikka build for when she's old enough to graduate from the .22.

I want to get my dad's old Jeep put back together, it's a 45 Willy's MB. It was his hunting rig when I was growing up. Hasn't been registered since 1967. Engine still needs assembly and I have to finish the body work.. I'd like to have it ready for moose season. I've done all the work myself, I'm a retired mechanic and not much of a body man so have been struggling with that part.
