2025 Turkey harvest pics

Wisconsin. I normally hunt public near my house, but got a yes door knocking down the road this year where I keep seeing birds. First morning of my season I called in 5 toms off a group of hens to investigate the ruckus. After they crested the hill they saw decoys and marched in a little group until I got skylined and they hit the brakes. This one broke away from the clump of birds and gave me a shot before they snuck away. 21.5lb. Gorgeous morning

Got off work early, so off to the woods I go. Got out of my truck at about 1:15. Walked down a logging road calling about every hundred yards. Halfway down I hear the first gobble I've heard all season. It sounded about 200+/- yards away. I debated closing the distance a bit but decided to just sit tight for a few since it's getting thick and there's a decent chance he could see me before I saw him. Hit the call and he immediately responded. Five minutes later he gobbles at about half the distance he was originally. Ten minutes, and about thirty gobbles later he comes strutting in at around 60 yards. Zig zags around to about 25 yards and that's where his story ends. Took about 20 minutes from the first gobble to the gun shot. Wasn't even out for an hour. Crazy how fast it happened when all season has been mind numbing slow.

Got a hunt in this past weekend with my buddy that I grew up with - he moved states and we don’t get to hunt much together any more so it’s always special when we get to go out. Good morning of action and he called this one in for me!

My real turkey hunt. There were plenty of Turkeys around, but they didn’t seem to be rutting at all. Would turn and book it if you called. I missed 6 shots on 3 different birds last weekend. And learned why you should pattern a shotgun before the season. The Stoeger Turkey choke I was using was shooting 10” to the right. Bought a new Jebs choke off of a buddy patterned it and got back out hunting. Of all the well laid plans that I had to get a Tom that didn’t work out, it feels insane that I stumbled upon this guy while walking through a corn field back to the car. Saw him at 80yds, ducked down into some brush and shot him at 10yds 15 minutes later.
