Harvested my first turkey yesterday morning. We were about to pack the blind up when this guy gobbled nearby. My buddy called him in for me. We were set up on the tree line and he actually passed through the woods pretty close behind us, so close in fact that we could hear him spitting and drumming. He was a little apprehensive about our decoys so I took the shot at about 40 yards. It was also the first turkey ever harvested on my family’s property in central MN. I’m hooked- cant wait to do it again next year!

Never gobbled. Spitting and drumming from 40 yards in to my Jake @ 8. He was already busted up a little before the rage Turkey head tore him to pieces. Had to pick up half a dozen tail feathers to get this picture. Didn’t make it 10 steps though! Crazy thick 9” beard. 1” spurs. 27th just like last year.

Opening morning my dad set up on the roost with my 4 year old son and niece. I watched the sun rise with my 2 year old. Papa got to shoot his first bird of the season.
A few day later I made it out for the afternoon and got my first bird of the season solo.
The next weekend we set up on another roost with my 4 year old and niece again and my dad and I got a double. It’s been a good season! IMG_9165.jpeg

Brought my 4 year old daughter out with me for her firstbsit in another wisconsin. We got up to the cabin at 1230 and went and sat after getting unpacked and a fire rolling. We had an action packed 30 minutes. 2 Jake's were harassing the hen decoy and we had 3 Tom's gobbling and working in from 2 directions. This bird with another bigger double beard tome came strutting in first from behind the blind. They worked 4 yds infron of the blind bit wouldn't commit to the decoy. I was worried about spooking then with her movement so took a shot at the top of his head. Was a great short sit for her first time. Stevens 301 turkey with a Burris red dot. Comp n choke and turkey ninja 9.5 tss did the trick

IMG_4454.jpegConnected with my first one of the year. Chased him all around the mountain all morning until he got quiet and I decided to leave and head into work. Got back up to the top of the mountain almost to the truck and he gobbled back at the bottom where I’d left him at. I decided to walk straight to him, get in tight, and call real soft. He put on a show and came up to 38 yards and I let the Stevens 301 bark. 410 Rocky Ridge #10 TSS. 12 inch beard and busted off 1/2 inch spurs

Wife's tom that we were fortunate to recover. I've never seen that many pellets in the head/neck of a bird that didn't result in a drop and flop. Found it around 100 yards in a straight line from where it was shot but it flew/ran closer to 200 yards.1000043663.jpg

Opening AM bird. Birds I roosted last night crossed the road onto a different property I cant hunt. Figured Id set up anyway and see if they came back, as I didnt have anything else close by and only had a little time before had to be at work. This guy surprises me and starts gobbling from the roost 400 yards the other direction across a big field. Did a big loop gobbling for 5 or 10 minutes, put on quite a show. Finally couldnt resist and he had to come see why that stiff-looking hen was giving him the cold shoulder.
1” spurs, 8 1/2” beard, just under 20lb on my fish scale. Got him cleaned up, had another cup of coffee, cooked myself a little breakfast, now heading to work. 😁

Got it done on the last day of our season in South Texas.

Dropped the first big gobbler and the second made the wrong choice and started attacking the one flopping on the ground.

Bigger one had 10 1/4 inch beard with just a little over 1 inch spurs.

Smaller one had a double beard! Longer one 9 3/4 and smaller beard 5 inches.
