My 2025 Wisconsin buck, tagged out October 12th. The night before I sat back to keep an eye on where the bucks were coming out to feed. Seen a few Id be happy with so the next day I went in for the kill and was happy when this 8 point made his way out of the bedding area and headed my way 20 minutes before dark. Predator classic 51@ 28, 2117 XX75s, bear razorhead.

This was my first recurve elk. Epic hunt as I had been to busy to get out and scout. Finally on the 12 of Sep I couldn’t take it any longer and went out for a morning hunt. Heard this guy bugle a few times, knew he didn’t have any cows.
Planned a route and in a hour or so I was within one or two hundred yards.
I was at a sharp U-turn on an old skid road, there was a trail at the point of the U coming down the drainage. VERY VERY thick country. I wanted to get him to that spot. On one side of the trail I started thrashing a tree like an irritated bull. When my thrashing stick broke I bugled. He started to bugle back so I cut him off very aggressively. Then threw out some cow and calf calls out.
Then ran over to the other side of the trail and shut up. He was coming and bugling the whole way. At one point he was thrashing a tree 50 yards from me but I still couldn’t see him.
I was standing with a small shrub/tree thing in front of me. He started to walk away so I bugle again. He turned and I could see his face looking right at my location. I just backed my head farther behind the brush in front of me and started shaking the shit of it…hoping he would think it was the bull. He did.
I could hear him coming. He stepped right into the opening of the trail. I was at full draw. Settled my shot, took my safety off and the arrow buried to the fletch right behind the shoulder.
He jumped out onto the skid road and bounded away twice, stopped and came right back looking for the bull or cows. I could see in his face he was dead. He started to wobble and made a made dash up into the thick stuff and died.
24 yard shot, Hoyt Satori with Uukha limbs 46lbs, 560grn arrow, Day 6 2 blade with bleeders.
Was so super cool!!!IMG_6390.jpeg
