And here’s my 2025 UT buck!

Those are both great pronghorns! Did you happen to measure the prongs on your wife’s buck?

My wife got her best buck yet (2nd ever). We spooked him and a doe at 200 yards while we were sneaking over the hill to set up. They took off but the buck was too worried about the doe to care about us.

He ran her in a loop and they stopped at 286 yards. My wife was prone watching through the scope. I fed her the range to adjust her hold as the buck turned broadside behind the doe. I gave a wind call and told her to let it fly. Right then the buck mounted the doe, and I was just starting to say "Hold -" BOOM!

The buck tipped over sideways off the doe into the dirt and never moved, and the doe raced off. One of the craziest things I've ever seen. After throwing up a quick prayer of thanks that things went as they did, I said, "I was about to say 'Hold off a minute', to which she replied, "Oh, I was rock solid, and I knew he wasn't going anywhere."

Sure enough his heart was in 2 pieces when we opened him up. My wife is a dead eye shooter on game, and she proved it again, even though I'd prefer a little bigger window for error in the future. 😅

Gorgeous buck! I am curious as to why you loaded up 120 grains of 777 though. When I used a muzzleloader to get a mule deer I only loaded about 85 grains of 777. I don't think I ever tried that much powder in my muzzy.

I've shot 100 grains of triple 7 under a 385 great plains bullet for years. With the lighter bullet I bumped up the powder charge. A lot of people run 90-120 grains depending on the bullet. You just have to see what shoots best in your muzzleloader. The 297 Thor over 120 grains was just under 1800 fps.
