2025 Small Game thread

Close. We stayed at Delta NF. But hunted panther swamp. My favorite places to hunt squirrel. Hope to go back after all the deer hunters clear out. Love doing squirrel camps.
I went to MSU. Got to spend a few days in DNF here and there, saw one black squirrel, but it wasn't season. Gorgeous place.

For sure. If you ever wanna come back. Me and a few others get together and do a squirrel camp. I bring my hot tents and it is a very comfortable and great experience. Sure beats a few days of work.

Took a few bushy tails this morning with my Dad’s old Marlin Model 80 that I inherited a few years ago when he passed away. This is the first time I’ve really taken this rifle out other than a few days ago when I upgraded the scope rings and zeroed it for CCI Quiets. This is the first gun I ever shot as a kid, and I’m not sure it’s ever taken any game since my dad wasn’t a hunter. Better late than never!

I'm planning a trip up to PS for squirrel in a few weeks, hopefully. The rain forecast looks troubling. I took my first trip up to PS to bow hunt right before Christmas and I was jealous of all the squirrel hunters. Where do you camp up there? We got permission to camp on some private land, but I would rather camp in real woods.

Okay, I'm now hooked on bunnies. Especially pretty white ones because I want to tan them and try to make things like mittens. This guy was a chonker.

Anyone hunting them at night? Seems like that is when they are active. Was wondering if thermal scope or headlamp is the way to go. Any tips greatly appreciated.
If you are in Co, no go for thermals, and I’m unsure about night hunting the bunnies. As far as snowshoe hares go, I’ve killed a fair amount by cutting tracks… might be harder to do this year though…
