2025 OFFICIAL MEAT POLE THREAD

What a blessing to be able to hunt and spend time in Creation. Spotted this buck on public land at around 0845 tending a handful of does and with a satellite buck in tow.

Deliberated what move to make with swirling winds and thick canyons. Ended up pulling a long safe stalk that would put me within 200 yards. Long story short, they jumped ridges and caught me. No shot.

I went up the ridge they were on to rehab and think about life decisions. Within a few minutes I saw his lead doe moving across a ridge at 450 yards. The bucks harem worked the same trail one by one while I got set and dialed way up! Pretty soon the buck followed and stood broadside. I had to collect my breath more than once - but executed a perfect shot and watched him fall.

Nebraska Public Land 2025. All glory to God!

Nice buck! I’ve hunt NE public some when I lived there and it can be a challenge to stir up a good one. Good work!

Killed my first mulie buck on day 7 of 2nd season at 11:45am. Stalked him from above with an east wind, shot downhill off a rock and my knee at 171 yards. Ruger American Gen II, 16” barrel, Trijicon 2.5-10 scope, DD suppressor, 143 ELDX, through both shoulders and lungs, did not take a single step. So thankful.

Just an FYI. Your license is a carcass tag not an antler tag. The warden can give you a ticket if they feel like being a dick. When quartered it should go on the largest piece of meat which typically is the rear hind that has evidence of sex on it.

Congrats on your deer

Noticed a few tagged that way in here. It's silly but true and they will give you grief about it most likely.

That’s wild, I had CPW look at my head with the tag on the main beam and never said I word. I do always attach to the game bag with a hind quarter once I leave camp when the trip is over. But just saying, yes technically it should be ON the carcass and not the horns but for some reason they never mentioned it at the time.

2025 Montana deer. I had seen this buck 2 other times in November but wasn’t ready to end my season. Yesterday I was out with my 12yo son by my side and we found him bedded with does around 10am and decided 3 strikes and he’s out.
