We have our first 1 day match here in southern Idaho this weekend. Having a match location 10 minutes from my house sure is nice! Debating hard on using the rokslide special 223 for fun.

I’d love to go to one of these but being on the east coast not too many options. The Gladstone, VA is 4 hrs from my home so maybe this is the year I get a chance to try it out. Nice to see it spreading east.

What scope? If it's a 6x I'll shoot mine too, otherwise I'm doing my OL gun 😂

Is there any downside to shooting your first match as a team versus individual? Or is it better to shoot individually and ask to squad up together?

I have a partner who is also interested, we both have some competitive shooting experience with PRS and USPSA and we have hunted and traveled lots together over the last decade.

Anyone going to brownfield? I live about 40 min from that match.

Have never been to one but would like to attend and do the skills division. Would be great to shoot with someone who’s done a match in the past.
I plan on making Clayton’s match unless some disaster happens at work. He put on a great show last year. More than happy to help you out as best I can.

I might do the Iowa match. It’s 10ish hours. So not horrible. I like the matches out west with bigger/steeper country. But a lot of them are even further than Iowa.
Rolling hills and that area, not typical Midwest AG.

Pretty confined on the area so there’s normally a few targets in view. Match I shot was heavy on the tripod and logs.
Has anyone shot the WI match? Is a tripod needed?

This is the first year for the WI match.

Any of these matches will be difficult without a tripod.
I understand that. I was able to get by at the Iowa one-day matches last year by shooting off the top of my pack and trekking poles. I'm fine with it being difficult shooting from the top of my pack, but mostly curious if there are any standing shots or super steep terrain that require a tripod, specifically at WI.

Unless he changes it up somehow from what was in the 1 day matches, pretty much every stage is from the side of a hill shooting in the downhill direction into or across a little valley.
