2025 elk meat pole

Congrats to all, so much success! Never looked at the thread before until now. 1st bull, 11/13/25 MT public land. 5th year/tag, 1st year going back for a rifle hunt after archery. Solo when I shot him, but the best part was I got to enjoy the last trip of the pack out with the help of my 73 year old father. Shot the bull with the same Browning BBR Dad got his first bull with.

First bull on first western hunting trip. We managed to get him on the last evening there. Had to make a mad dash 1.8 miles up the mountain in the last hour of light and was able to shoot him at 350yds in last few minutes of light. 300wsm, western Montana

Thanks! He isn’t huge by any means but we worked our butts off to get into a position to shoot in time, and just didn’t have time to comb through the herd to find the biggest so I took first opportunity we had.

Forgot to take a better pic. After getting my butt kicked opening week, snuck back out for a long weekend pre Thanksgiving and was able to take a MT cow elk with my daughter. We had a herd come off private and walk up to within 40 yds on public. Sometimes it pays to get a little lucky. Such a cool memory for the both of us!

Dozens of miles in the flattops for 4th season in 5 days in indescribable. Don’t know that I would recommend doing it but I also wouldn’t read anything. Unforgiving but awesome

I just got home this evening after a week and a half at elk camp. Hunting was tough. There was a lot of high impact hunting pressure but I managed to fill my tag. Oregon public land.

Congrats. Fellow Oregon hunter public land Oregon elk have not been an easy target, especially in high pressure areas and years without snow.

Thank you very much! This was certainly an off year as far as the weather. And I could rant for days about hunting pressure but there’s no point in beating a dead horse.

My wife got a return tag with 2 weeks notice. Took her 4 days, passed some small guys and ended up successful .
6.5 creed 143 eldx 300 yards .
