2025 elk meat pole

Shot this young bull on 9/25 - my 3rd Montana public land bull with a bow in the last 4 years. I chased a bugling bull up the ridge only to have this 4x4 bark at one of my cow calls and come running in on a string. Shot was 10-12 yards and he piled up 60 yards away. Packout was only about 3 miles but had 2400' of elevation to suffer through. He's my smallest bull to date, but the freezer will be full of elk meat for another year so I'm happy.
(solo, DIY, OTC, etc.)

My shortest WY general season to date. I scouted this zone a week leading up to opener and heard bugles but never got to see my targets. They were smart and shut down just after sunrise and bedded deep. On day three, I finally caught glimpse of a bull with a small harem out late trying to gather more cows. He was screaming in a clearing and I closed distance quickly just in time to catch him heading towards thick timber.
A quick tape put him at 344". His left 3 is 17.5" 🤣

Utah Manti muzzleloader bull hunt. First elk with my 58 caliber flintlock shooting patched ball and real black powder. The shorts are stalking perfection and everyone should try it. Shot at 50 yards offhand. Frontal shot slightly high dropped him with a neck and spine impact.

This was a solo hunt and hard won after 7 days of chasing bugles and cutting my teeth on close encounters with big bulls. Hopefully it is obvious from the photo it was done solo and how satisfied I am.

Had a great week chasing bulls. Killed one of my better ones and got my buddy his 1st elk on his 1st elk hunt. Fun trip. Quick tape out mine at 275 gross, should just sneak into p and y with about 12” of deductions.

Had a fun hunt in WY with my brother. Took advantage of some good rut activity opening morning and was able to get in to about 90 yards of a 6x6 in the timber. 3 shots with the 7 saum and he tipped over.

We mainly packed meat over the next couple days because the hunting seemed poor, but on the 3rd day of season we were able to turn up a 5x5 for him. Came home with alot of meat and plenty of bruises from packing through all the dead fall.

Yep haha I have a 347 on my wall right now and that is a bigger bull, closer to 360 than 320 for sure

Spread only 32”. But the mass carried him.

I measured 351” gross with an actual tape. I figure I’m +-3” at most.

I stil can’t believe it
