I was thrilled to be able to take this bear as my first over the Memorial Day weekend. I figure he was a medium sized boar as I measured him right at 5’ nose to tail, but the hide definitely warranted shelling out for a rug.

Had an awesome trip to BC for my first guided bear hunt. Tagged out on day 4 with my first bear ever.

Had my old man along which is always good, we live across the province from each other so we usually only get 1-2 trips in a year together.

We got one over Labor Day weekend in Wa. It’s the 10th bear my Dad and I have gotten together over the years. Hoping to get another next week when my buddy and I take his 11 year old son on his first overnight backpack hunt.

Just returned from 7 days of artic grizzly hunting in Alaska. I used Brad Saalsaa's outfit, Alaska Wilderness Charters & Guiding, out of Kotzebue. Brad runs his business with integrity and transparency, and had to manage through some logistical complications due to bad weather to get me in and out of the field. He paired me with a top notch guide (Mike) who worked hard to find me a great bear. We put in a lot of miles in tussocks, brush and river crossings, in some rain and a little sunshine, to bring home a beautiful bear. The river was high due to the rain, so we had to hike 8 miles to retrieve a bear that was 1 mile from our tents. Then we killed a wolf on the carcass the next day and had to cross the river again. We really earned those critters, and made a great bond in the process. To celebrate, Mike cooked up a great dinner of bone broth, spam and seasoning, which we paired with a couple mini bottles of whiskey that I brought. Amazing how something that simple was one of the best meals I've ever had. Can't wait to hunt with these guys again in the future.

Better late than never. First ever attempt going after bear... got lucky 30 minutes in to my first ever sit she's no giant, but I couldn't be happier. Guess it's a good time to start the kids in preference points now that I'm back to zero points!!! Northern Wisconsin.
