2025/2026 Trapping season.

Pretty cat, we won't set for bobcats until Dec. Way better fur and prices for them, this year with the warmer weather may be into Jan. before we start cat trapping.

Congrats on the nice catch !!

Nice bobcat. I came down with a sinus infection. First day of rifle deer / trapping season on public land. So I'm waiting until i get over it.

Nice!

How many nights did it take to hit?

I haven't ever set one of these because the other side of my brain starts ruminating on the seeming randomness of the chances.
That check was about 16 hours after setting, but 8 other sets had nothing, so it's not all instant gold.

There's a process to where on the trail to set them, more likely spots they step than others. I'll take a few pictures and post them another day of where and why.

That would be great. Does blind mean no lures, no hole, clear spot to set foot etc?

I did my best here with pictures and putting a few marks on them to explain blind sets on game trails.
Your just looking for a point in the trap and setting at the tip of it, the coyote or bobcat will take the shortest path, even a winding trail they'll walk a straight as possible on it.
The white circle is where you'd set here.

I put the can where's you'd want to set here. Nice bow in the tail, but there's one little sharp point and they'll cut that corner tight right on the tip.

The best spots are where the trail narrows, and I prefer to look for the spots that already have bare dirt, so when you place a trap it blends in.

These are just examples, down where I caught the last coyote the trail goes from about 12" wide to maybe 8" wide for about 5' and has a nice 15° turn on the trail giving a really nice point to set on.
