2024 Success!

Congratulations! Just a heads-up for future hunts, make sure you attach your tag to the carcass, not the antlers. CPW recommends attaching it to the quarter that has the evidence of sex. Just throwing it out there to avoid any future issues.
I didn't know that either! So am I supposed to pack out some elk nuts for proof? Kidding of course...

After 3 years with no success, we finally pulled it together! I called this bull in for my buddy in Southern CO. We had the grand plan of hiking a 25 mile path from one truck to another. It included going over two passes and hitting 3 drainages. We found elk 3 miles from the first truck and never left. So much for planning. lol.
Heck yes that is awesome! Can't beat that!

I've always seen that in the regs as well but is CPW really going to give you a hard time if you have a freshly skinned legal head... not much better evidence than that? Especially if its accompanying the meat and nuts! You have to have the head to prove it has 4 points in certain units anyways. Just seems like a silly rule IMO.
