Went chukar hunting Monday and Tuesday. My 2 year old dog is really coming along. Monday the birds held tight and she had no problem holding solid points. We went to a different area yesterday and a lot of the birds were running, she bumped a few coveys but the experience was great. If I could shoot we would have had limits before noon both days.

Let's hear more about that coffin
Haha, just took some scrap wood and insulation to keep the dogs warm on long drives and nights in the cold. We often run with 4+ dogs hence the size, we are gonna shorten it and improve the door. Overall it kept the dogs real toasty into the teens overnight. Once we get the design perfected I may post details.

Made it out after work for a coulee hunt. It was my first time hunting this particular spot for birds. Saw a decent amount but was only able to get a shot off at one. I didn’t make the best shot but I dropped the leg on him. Watched him glide to the edge of the coulee and then spiral down. I marked it and finished out the fence line. Brought my dogs to edge and sent them down into the thick of it. Couple minutes later my older dog had made the retrieve. Couldn’t be happier with how my dogs have worked this year.

Had some pretty good days recently. She’s always struggled with geese and got her on a good field hunt where she was able to work out the best way to carry them. Made a great retrieve on a wounded one that sailed a long ways. Excited for the rest of the season. Might try to sneak some pheasants in too.

I left the pup at home so I could get some shooting in last Friday. The old man was working hard to keep his starter position. He had 2 400 yard plus tracks on cripples. Solid dog work with mediocre shooting still ended with limits.
