I've been setting a goal of racking up trail miles to equal the year; this is the 5th or 6th year of doing so. I hit that goal yesterday
Most of those of miles come from a near daily hike with my dog on our single track trails near town. A good chunk is racked up during hunting season, the rest of it is from backpacking trip scattered throughout the year. To hit that goal I have to average 5.55 miles/day, 38.9 miles/week and ~ 168.6 miles/month. Looking back, I think I've missed no more than 5-7 days the entire year. The shortest hike around 3 miles, the longest around 30 miles.
My wife joins me on a lot of hikes, but my most regular partner is my dog, Tiny Elvis—all 12 lbs of him I keep track of his mileage on a calendar and he's going to hit 1300 miles this year
Here's to a New Year of more memories!
