Does anyone live near MCAAP? I want to bring my inReach and pistol but they aren’t allowed at the cabins where I’m staying or in my truck. I’d love to ditch them at someone’s place nearby if anyone is willing

Idk how you’re getting there. I live between OKC & Tulsa off 44. If you can’t find anywhere to stash your gear send me a message

The deer hunting in Oklahoma has been pretty sub par overall since season started. Been in the high 80s low 90s most days. A cold front just pushed in and cooled things off so I’m sure deer activity will pick up and you’ll start seeing more guys having success on mcaap. I’ve had several buddies draw that hunt and pretty much all of them hunting November said you will most likely see big deer. It’s just a matter of getting them killed!
Hot weather definitely takes its toll on the harvest numbers.

Thanks for everyone’s insight on here. I’m pretty excited I got my first whitetail on opening morning, my 2nd time ever in a treestand. I setup about 80yds from a bunker in a creek bend that had some good sign. Our area was really scrubby and didn’t have many trees that could hold a stand but this little pocket had a decent tree and I got setup about 12’ high. Buck came through on a trail about 15yds in front of me broadside at 7:30 the first morning.

The rest of the hunt was relatively uneventful, I didn’t qualify for another buck tag since this deer was 107 7/8” (needed 115 to get another buck tag) but I seen a 120-125” buck each of the last two mornings right under my stand so that was exciting. Does were sparse, only seen 3 60yds away behind me on the first morning about 20 min before my buck came through. The others in my group seen some great deer on the last morning but didn’t end up getting a shot. I think only 30/300 hunters killed our weekend, the colder weather helped but it wasn’t consistent. It was in the 30s the first morning I shot this buck and then it warmed all the way up to 65 the last morning. Much different weather than I’m used to.

Overall it was a great trip, seen some giant bucks chasing does on the drives in and out and got to experience some cool country pretty foreign to this CO native.

Outstanding and congratulations!

Thanks for reporting back on your successful hunt.

What bow are you shooting? Quite the looker and obviously effective.

Appreciate it man! That’s a Poison Dart Longbow by Buddy Gould out of my hometown Paonia, Colorado. Incredible shooting bow and even better guy building them. I haven’t found a longbow that sits as naturally in my hand as his, and very reasonably priced for a custom bow. Check him out on instagram and he has a Website as well. He’ll reply quickly to instagram messages.
