I planned my first trip to alaska this year, my original plan was SE alaska August blacktail, but it seems there is a good chance that I need to postpone it to September due to work. I want the alpine experience, so if I can`t hunt late august, I might just not do it.
As I am thinking about alternatives, haul road caribou came to my mind. With the current status of caribou herd, is it still worth it? I am willing to grind and have been training for a tough hunt, so I prefer a successful hunt, or at least can lay an eye on a matured animal that I want to take. What do you think?
Also, I am open to other alternative hunts, it will be self-guided DIY hunt. Thanks in advance for any inputs!
