Got my skulls back a few days ago.
Both are Washington blacktails. The big one is last November, 19" wide.
The smaller is two November ago, 18" wide.
The 18" was my widest blacktail for one whole year.

After the high wears off, I'm left yearning to do it again just as bad as when I was a kid! man I love blacktails!
Westside bucks? That top one is a giant

yes, Wet side bucks. technically they are "cascade" bucks even though they are many miles from the divide.
it's the biggest buck I've seen shot in that valley, but not the biggest I've seen alive. I've seen some that just give you a glimpse that are unbelievable for Wa blacktails but they are huge because they are smart, old and unkillable.
they will die of old age or a cougar or just maybe a poacher with a spotlight if they get caught near a road. most are nowhere near any roads in brush so thick a snake would struggle.

Well, I grew up there...
can't choose where you're born, you can leave asap though!

I spent many, many days in that valley so I'm returning to what I know. I have never been able to get enough of hunting blacktails is what brings me back.
I want to hunt Oregon too eventually. it would be super cool to kill a blacktail in every state they inhabit some day.
is a "Blacktail slam" a thing? lol
I love hunting familiar places in Washington. The only thing missing are the deer, none of the places I used to hunt have the same population.
