This young man went to school with my 2 older boys. He grew up without much of a father figure in his life, and never hunted until this year. This was our 2nd trip this season. Pretty slow day with the fog but I glassed up this guy feeding at 2pm. Got him set up and he made a great shot at 360 yds. I’m so happy for him, it was an awesome day.

My wife got it done today with an obese forky. When she first spotted him she said “he’s not very big”, but we watched him for a while and she pointed out the good sized body. She’s a meat hunter through and through!

This deer had a ton of fat.

If you are hunting just to get "the slam" you are doing it wrong

I guess I never asked for your opinion, I also never said the only reason I am hurting is to get a slam. Years ago I looked at all the different species of deer in NA, where they lived, the topography, the climates etc. I thought it would be a challenge to try to pursue all of them because of how different every hunt would be and the areas it would take me. You can hunt for the reasons you want. I will do the same. The experiences I have had on this journey are the reasons I hunt. Creating unforgettable memories isn't "doing it wrong".

Thanks. . Sitka Blacktail is last.
Saved the prettiest for last!

My next out of state hunt will be Sitka BT, I have never hunted any deer besides Blacktail and even at that, hunting Sitka BT is my most desired hunt currently

There is no prettier deer, or prettier country than where they live

I want to go to POW pre rut and have a chance at one of those neon orange antlered bucks. I mostly euro everything personally these days, I have a couple really good bucks shoulder mounted, so it’s not that big of a deal to me to have another, but my first 2 Sitka BT will be shoulder mounted, they make a great mount

Heck of a buck you got!

Thanks man. I agree. For me, I feel Sitka Blacktail would be the ultimate hunting experience. I have held off booking anything that way just because I wanted to save it for last. I’m looking forward to it. The planning will start soon. I’m leaning toward a Kodiak hunt of some kind.

I’m euro mounting this one. The bright white skull with the chocolate antlers should look beautiful. We shall see.

Was skinning a CAT down the road and happened to see this guy. Guess the riggin crew had seen him a few times before. Hopped off the cat and give ‘em one with a 44 . Lots of good fat. Hoping to catch a few more. Great to be able to make meat at work.View attachment 617328
That’s a beautiful buck! I like a big forky, and that’s about as pretty as they get!

Told myself I was going to wait to hunt the last week or so of the season this year.
Have a three day weekend the weekend of the 28th so I planned to hunt, and figured I’d use Sunday the 22nd as a day to go check out where I planned to hunt.

Well, about 45 minutes after shooting light I spotted this guy 299 yards away from my glassing spot.
One shot with my 7prc and I guess I’m done hunting for the year.
Was nearly 4 miles behind a gate and very thankful for a bike trailer!
