Congrats on a nice elk! I don't know if its the angle but the body on that boy looks titanic.
I think it's the way he is sitting on the hillside. It's really steep there and the way he fell you can see him from the top of his back to bottom of his belly. But I am going to wiegh the quarters this evening before I process them. Will post what they weigh

My first in three tries. Did a solo run to NM from PA. Total mileage door to door was 4075 miles.
Ride home was a bitch, but coming home loaded, was a blessing. In screaming bulls the whole hunt.
It was wicked!!!!

Well done! There are some very nice dirt timers here. Hoping to get my first chance to chase these awesome animals next fall!

Got it done this year and worked my ass off. This was my second bull tag in 3 years here in AZ. Arrowed him at 20 yards and he went about 80 and was done. He has a busted left third.

Got my first cow elk after 3 years of trying. Opening day. My cousin could have gotten one as well for a double but we made the right decision and decided one would be plenty of field dressing for the remainder of the day, especially considering it was my first elk and his first big game hunt.

It was a 4 year process for me to plan my first western elk hunt which took place this October. As this was my first experience western hunting, I went with a guide on public land hunting the Coeur d'Alene National Forest in Northern Idaho. I made sure I set myself up with the most realistic hunting experience as I plan to do DIY in the future. Fortunately I had a pretty good guide who had me into elk every day of the hunt. After a couple of close encounters, I was able to connect on day 4 of the hunt. Not a trophy bull but I certainly worked my ass off and invested a ton of time and energy planning this, not to mention the 33 hour drive each way.
