Participate and you’re good to go! No need for it to be tenure. Would love to see people who contribute get to play.

I'm gonna try and get in. Hopefully a little after 9:00 am pacific time isn't too late (my local range opens at 9:00). I might push for 60Y with BHs if I can get a bit of extra practice in before it starts.

Remember it’s not a real-time challenge even though that’s how 95% of us do it. It’s just the April 17 is the first day we open the thread.

The spirit of the challenge is five arrows on five different days with no practice in between. So if you need to shoot a day or two before it opens, that’s all good.

Now if on day one someone posts up all five arrows, we might say something, but if you think about it, there’s really no way for us to know when people are really shooting.

So let’s just keep it as close to the spirit of the challenge as we can, it’s designed to make you a better more ethical bowhunter. And virtually everyone that goes through the challenge tells me that it was anything from a comfortable push, to a real eye-opener. I’ve cut about 15 yards off my MER since we started five years ago.

If you have any questions or comments on the 2021 Cold Bow Challenge, please post them on this thread. This will keep that challenge thread clean and easy to follow. Thanks!

With the overwhelming response we’ve had, we have to limit the challenge to 200 shooters. Sorry, but it’s a ton of work to qualify the shooters.

The Challenge will start Saturday, April 17th and run 4 weeks or 200 shooters, whatever we hit first.

Be sure and choose an MER that pushes you or you will be asked to restart the challenge or disqualified.

No more "I only got 20 yards in my backyard" posts. Lots of shooters travel to places they can shoot their MER. This challenge is exactly that, a challenge to make you a better hunter, so please put some effort into it.
Feeling like 60 will be a perfect distance to test this year!

Looking forward to the challenge and seeing where I am this year. New bow, new arrows, new broadheads and a new challenge. Good luck to all!

I just updated the prize thread with almost $1K more in prizes. It's always a good day when @ktowncamo of Camofire, Black Ovis, and Crispi jumps into the CBC!

Debating between 50 and 60. Last year I went with the lower distance, this year I'm thinking 60 and if I fail then so be it.

I figure 60 is a challenge and this isn't the only 5 day/1 arrow set I will do prior to September. I really want to be comfortable at 60 yards heading into this season.

Love this challenge. I always push the distance and get out there. I have put a lot of effort lately to get back the accuracy I had years ago so I'm excited.

I'll play! Are most folks using like the heart on a block target side or something like that as your "hit" mark? I suppose it would be like a "10" ring on most 3D targets.

Part of the MER is naming your primary target species so an elk will have a much bigger vitals than say a pronghorn...you name your MER accordingly. For whitetail, I've marked an 8x8" box with masking tape on my broadhead target. There are plenty of guys who used 3d targets though.
