Montana general tag. I heard exactly 6 bugles and my season was over. He’s (obviously) my biggest bull, but more proud I’ve killed 6 points three years in a row with my bow, all DIY public land on easy to get tags.

That’s a Toyota Tacoma in the second pic. I haven’t scored him yet but he’s over 48” wide.

Called in a monster with a buddy, but neither could get a clear shot, this little guy came in after. My shot was off along with the 2 follow ups ( check equipment after a hard impact). Took hard tracking before finally putting him down in his bed. No excuses made on equipment my fault. But the extra holes and persistence paid off. I learned more on that blood trail than all the others combined.

I am a little feller, 5' 7", helps me sneak through the timber like a ghost puma.
Haha. I will say, my buddy is 6'3", 265 and I'm 6'1" 185. His quiet is my loud, so you're not far off in your assessment.

Hurry up and score that thing. I'm gonna guess 385 gross.

That's an awesome bull. Looks like a great shot too, right in the pocket.
The arrow actually was on his left side, and I destroyed the onside lung, but from him turning toward me on the shot the arrow went back into liver and the other guts.
Just a shadow on this side. I slept under a deadffall log around 1 am by the last blood sign I could find with a headlamp. Froze my ass off. Then got up and finished tracking him at first light.

My initial thought was that I double lunged him at 40. Arrow buried to the fletching. I mewed at him as he ran off. When he stopped I was so positive he was about to wobble and drop. Then he went into some thick shit. It be like that sometimes.

No quit on blood trails, I knew he was dead. He just didn't know it yet.

Edit: I just read your story. How the arrow went in was basically the same, but he was quartering to me. Game of inches for sure.

Yesterday evening right at sunset. Took two of us til 530 this morning to get it all out. Just about 10 hours total. 37 degrees last night so that was perfect. 38 yards while raking a tree. Iron will 100gr solid, zipped right through. He walked 20 yards and fell over.

I almost forgot the meat pic.. surely you guys are also eating tenderloins over the fire in camp.. We just use some some olive oil, salt, and pepper. Flash cook them quick.. Doesn't get any better.
