I have enough points to draw anywhere in Iowa.

Any recommendations for a great experience?

Looking for free range bow or muzzleloader hunt for a mature whitetail. Don't need fancy accommodations.

I cant give you any first hand outfitter recommendations as all my Iowa hunts have been on my own. This year I leased a farm for the bow season.

Just a word of caution, parts of southern iowa got hit pretty good with EHD and I ran into a bit as well. I know a couple guys that have farms directly east into Illinois as well and they got hit also. Something to be mindful of as a lot of 4 and 5 year old bucks got it.

I'm also sitting on enough points to draw an archery tag and would appreciate any guide recomendations that other members might have. I've heard good things about Paul Fountain and I have talked to him once, he seemed like a good guy on the phone. He did seem a little vague about what he had available due to repeat clients (which is a good sign) and the uncertainty of the draw and point creep. I have also heard some reports that EHD may have hit that area of southern Iowa.
I'm hoping to draw in 20 or 21 depending on when I can coordinate a hunt with a reputable outfitter. Thanks.

Thunder ridge outfitters. They lease land in zone 4 and 5. I follow them on Facebook and know the guy who runs it, they kill a few dandy's every year. As far as the EHD issue, I've also heard they've gotten hit hard down there. As far as deer population, and quality of deer, I'd still reccomend going to a southern unit despite the EHD hit.
