Eastern Oregon fall season. Went out for an evening elk hunt and ended up with this bear. The wife spotted it and I killed it at 250 yards. Very excited 20201030_174053.jpg20201030_174256.jpgIMG-20201101-WA0001.jpgIMG-20201101-WA0001.jpg

Missing AK where they grow a bit bigger but I love eating these acorn bears from the National Forest near my parents house. Best sausage ever.

My wife's first bear, taken in June. He looks kinda rough but it is just soaking wet due to washing him in the river before taking photos and skinning. He was covered in mud and sand. Should be a beautiful rug.

A griz I took in July. I literally had to go fishing for this bear. He was standing on the cutbank and when I shot him he fell into the river and sunk. I snagged him with a pike jig and carefully drug him up to the surface so we could grab him. We let this one dry off a bit before taking pictures after seeing how the photos of the wet bear turned out.

I'll kick it off. After 4 days of missed opportunities early in May, I made a run back to Idaho with @JJBuck for a 2 day trip. 2 days, 2 bears and a bunch of Chorizo!

Did you do a guided hunt for these? If so, how did you like it? Never hunted bears before but was looking at trying to go out west to try it. I live in Louisiana so just trying to figure out what the best ways to hunt them would be?

2020 turned out to be our best bear year so far. In the spring I took 3, one of which was my first color phase and my wife took her first 2. I have been trying to get her on her first bear for 5 years, and this year we were finally able to make it happen with a 6.5' bear. She killed her second the following week and then her third in the fall. The best part is having our 4 year old daughter with us for every hunt and she even helps set bait. Some taken with 300blk subsonic, some with 300blk supersonic and one with a 6.5 Creedmoor. Some over bait, some spot and stalk, but all 6 taken under 30 yards. Can't beat all the homemade smoked sausage.
