My son got his second buck this year, and my daughter got on the board with her first big game animal ever killed. Like others on here...I was/am a proud papa.

Punched a third buck tag for the year on the buck I have been keeping up with for three years now. I actually backpacked in with my wife and she killed a button buck the evening before. Fresh backstrap over the fire! Got up early and hiked to the area where I thought this buck might be living. At 7:45 am he came strolling down the ridge and the rest is history!

Some great bucks on here, congrats guys.

I tagged out this morning on an old buck I wanted to get out of the gene pool. I didn't have any giants this year that I thought I had a good shot at so I decided to take this guy. He is at least 6, maybe 7 and had grown to be all he ever would. I have pics of him over several years and he became the dominant buck this season after I got the old heavy 9pt last year. Had a brow and G2 broke off. 20" inside spread and around 145" before he broke off points. I have pics of him before and he was pretty symmetrical. I had the new 264 Win Mag set up for longer shots so I got a close one inside 200yds. The buck was moving and I led him a bit, hit him through the shoulder blade and the 143gr ELD-X bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3240fps dropped him in his tracks. The bullet fragmented, had a entry wound visible in the pics and didn't exit or damage the off shoulder. There were no bullet fragments large enough to recover. I won't cuss a bullet that dropped a deer in it's tracks but it wasn't what I expected.

Finally tagged out on a public land doe last day of IL gun season. Tough season, very warm. Freezer is looking much better!

Had a good season again on the old "Crick" hill. Rutting activity was still cooking the first week of the season. Scrapes were being kept open and does were still being chased. I put in the time on the stand. Mid day activity was high, and the deer were on their daily patterns. Where my stand is located, hunter pressure is low. No one traverses the cricket hill. It's a huge expanse of devils club and brier. I'm watching an old gas well site and access road. The only opening in the red brush for hundreds of yards. At 11:45 on Fri,a doe came out of the brush. Obviously ragged, mouth open and being pursued. I heard the grunts and saw the rack threading through the red brush behind her. He got clear and there was no question he was a shooter.

Pretty tickled with him. As nice an eight point as I could hope for.

A different kind of Whitetail success, my first Arizona Coues deer. Taken today, 686 yards across canyon in 20-25 mph winds.

Big old doe, doe tags are all filled. Still have not seen a buck beyond a basket rack 8 in WI.

Good bucks being taken, here we have 5 straight days of the best weather a guy could ask for the first week of November.

IMHOP, big old does are the hardest whitetails to kill...they have a third sense!

Grats!!!
