Don't know how I missed this thread, amazing pictures! Really makes me want to start packing my wife's canon DSLR. But first I would need to take a course or something, right now I am strictly a point 'n shoot on auto camera guy.

any pointers on how to get a proper start?

Awesome photos Aaron! as soon as I know how to copy things on this mac air ill have a new background!

Looks like you had and are having a fun year!! I have the hunting buddy to go to places like that, just neither of us have the time and we both take 2-3 weeks off for hunting every year and to our spouses that is a lot! I definitely think Im going to start hunting with my camera more as well if nothing else just to capture the memories! the cell phone does a great job but not that of a good camera would.

keep on sharing!

Incredible photos Aron. Thanks for sharing them!

Also, I'm really enjoying the Gritty Bowmen Podcast. I'm a little behind, but I hope you guys will continue to roll out quality content.

Keep up the great work!

All of those were taken with a Sony A7R, A7II or A7RII.

Digging in to the sony's I'd be curious as why you chose that platform in particular? I'd assume mirror less with full frame sensor, probably saves a ton of space and weight, but they are super limited on lenses, and they are pretty damn proud of the ones they have available. What lenses were you running. And what did you think of the Sony?

If you compare the Sony/Zeiss lens price to what I've used in Nikon and Canon, the Sony is actually cheaper. Also, the lens options for the A7RII is less (by far) when compared to other cameras, but for what I do I'm not missing anything. I mean, what lenses are the actually missing for 90% of photographers? I have a 55, 35, 90 Macro, 70-200, 12mm Fisheye and 15mm wide angle.......and that's more than I probably need anyway.

You can also use just about ANY lens from other companies with the help of an adapter. My wide angle lens is from a different company and I'm using a Wolf adapter with it and it works perfect.

As far as the why goes, the camera is flat out better in just about every way for backpack hunters/photographers.

Thanks Aron, your right as well, I wasn't even thinking of comparing them to the canon L lenses. When you look at the Sony it's hard to believe that's a full frame. Your photos speak for themselves though. Great shots. PM incoming as to not clog the thread anymore.

No, please clog it...I can't kill shit it seems, so I want to venture into this fancy photography game. Have a lot to learn. I'm actually leaving Friday for a mule deer hunt and I want to order a camera like right now, so I can get it Wed/Thursday and play with it a bit before the hunt. Sick of shitty pictures and nothing to show for a hunt, and it's amazing what you guys can do with a decent camera and editing software.
