So as ALWAYS I was packing the night BEFORE I left...I love procrastination! I have doctorate in it. This is what my living room looked like once I was the only one still awake!

I think you and I have a lot in common. That picture could have been shot in my living room last night as I was last minute packing. I leave in 2 hours.

TO ANYONE COMING FROM BELOW .... 6000 feet MAKE SURE TO THROW OUT A TARGET AND DOUBLE CHECK PINS. CHRIS CAME UP FROM PHOENIX (800 feetISH) WE LUCKILY CHECKED AT 77 yds BEFORE WE LEFT THE TRUCK AND HE WAS OFF 6 yds! Thinner air less density!

We made in an hour on our hike and CRACK! Thunder! AWESOME way to start!

Got camp all set up! Located a small herd of elk tonight two bulls, and 2 smaller bucks.

I switched things up this year and picked up the Easton KILO 2P tent.

2 lbs 11 oz at heaviest

Never been more happy for a Mountain House! Ended up around 10 miles yesterday. Elevation around 12600

Nothing so far on the deer side however!!! Just threw our a cow call and have a bull responding and identifiably 2 cows! Mmmmmmmm quick switch?!

Sorry guys I guess it REALLY helps if I remember my phone and don't leave it in the tent!

So we started to work our way around this basin to find a way in on the bulls when we were hit by an afternoon thunderstorm.

Threw in the rain gear and rode it out in some cover and by the time it lifted our way down was too slick because of the wet rocks and the bulls had went silent!

End of day 1

Day two:

Today.....left phone in tent! Sorry! We hadn't been seeing the animals we thought we would!

GAME PLAN: glass the three basins we could access until 10 then pull back to camp pack hike out and move!

ACTUALITY!: glassed until noon. Turned up 13 does 2 forked horn bucks 16 cows 1 5X5 bull ( miles off ).

As we got back to camp we were again slammed with an afternoon thunderstorm and rode it out in the tents and when it broke we hiked out.

Returned to trucks around 5 pm.

We now didn't have the time it was gonna take to hike back in to a new area I had in mind SO we repackaged had dinner are sleeping in trucks tonight and hitting it at 4 am!!!

Lets go day 3!!

Got in to a new area this morning and have seen 4 cows 3 does 1 fawn! I'm beginning to wonder if this unit truly has any bucks to cover all the does we're seeing!

Camp is RESET! And had a camp visitor!



All over the mountain we're on so we dropped down to fill water and dromadary bags for a few days worth of water up top!
