Hey new to the forum, awesome website!

Well I wore out my last pair of boots and am in the market for some new ones.. I got some Asolo sasslongs but after pig hunting in them this weekend I did not like them. I wanted to, but the low tops and narrow sole made made them feel unsecure on my feet scaling all the rocks.

Anyways I am looking at another pair of boots but these have 200g Thinsulate.. How much of a difference am I going to notice with this amount of insulation vs non-insulated. Being in AZ I dont want my feet sweating like crazy in the early season when it is warmer. So anyone have experience with this amount of thinsulate and how hot it was? Thanks

I consider 200 as having minimal, if any at all insulating properties...but in AZ, possibly ANY insulation is too much. If the boot is otherwise what you want, I say go for it and if need be, change socks along the way. They'd be nice on cool mornings.

Welcome. I prefer an uninsulated boot when hunting warmer weather. You will feel a little difference with 200 grams. I don't think more heat is going to be s good thing in AZ early season. Its up to you but I would look at a lightweight uninsulated boot that breathes incredibly well.

i do AZ all the time. mostly the Jan hunt. i wear Schnee beartooths in 200gr. works awesome.

BUT..this past jan..i did the entire 9 day hunt in a relatively lighter boot. Lowa Renegades..it was more awesome..it was mild this Jan, but still, my feet never got cold. with this new info..i bet most of us could get by with zero insulation and a GREAT sock.

Unless there is quite a bit of snow on the ground I go unlined, although mine are leather lined. And even then I've got to really be ankle deep to want insulation in there. From 90's to around mid 20's I use the same boots(for the most part) just Taylor my socks to fit the situation. My feet run pretty warm though and they really rarely get cold as long as I have a proper fitting boot. To me 200 seems like a weird amount, to little to really do anything in real cold when you need it but un needed when it's hot. I would go uninsulated then have a boot with something 500 or better if you need it.

Thanks for the input guys.. You guys pretty much said what I assumed. I would definitely rather have no insulation, but the boot is too good of a deal to pass up on so I think I will try it out. Maybe that little bit of insulation will come in handy glassing those early mornings or sitting in the tree stand.
