Pretty new to muzzleloading Wanting to reach out to 200 yards. Anyone use hornady xtp 240gr with 100gr powder?
Also thinking hornady sst 250gr or 300gr with 100gr powder. Thoughts?

What type of muzzle loader? What powder? I shoot the arrowhead bullets in one of mine and they are nasty

Really it depends on where and what you’re hunting, and what your preference is. Do you need a ML that conforms to the regulations of some states? Do you want a short barrel for tree stand hunting or a long barrel for longer range shooting? Do you prefer a traditional side lock or an inline? Scope or iron sights?
Pretty much any ML you buy new can be a 200 yard gun, especially a scoped inline.

I am shooting CVA Optima V2 50 cal LR rifle. I have killed deer 200 yds. I have a Leupold Ultimate Slam 3x9x40mm ml scope on mine. I started out shooting 250 gr sst in mine. With 84 grs of blackhorn by weight. I heard people say sst won't expand. But they were shoot 70 grs of 777 powder. Try both 100 gr and 150 gr powder charges. Blackhorn by weight 84 grs is max. Or by volume 120 gr is the max. For myself I want to push the 250 gr sst fast . But not giving up Accuracy.. I shot at 6 deer with the 250 gr sst. Killed 5 out of 6. I hit a limb on the one I didn't kill. I do a high shoulder shot. And all 5 dropped right there.
I came across a good deal on Hornady 50 cal 290 gr bore driver bullets. I trying them out. Then I will go back to the 250 gr sst.
