$20 Primos Trail Camera

$79 for this rig seems really high. I bought a bunch of very comparable cameras on a sale for $25. I’ll keep my integrity for $5. I would never support a company that doesn’t support my civil rights.

I have a couple cheapies. Why not? They take pictures and if someone steals them I don’t care.

I'm no Dick's fan, but I've gotten gift cards over the year and had just enough to cover one cam. Free shipping too. My favorite Low Glow camera is a Primos Proof 02 that I probably have well over 100K shutter clicks on so I figured I'd give it a whirl. BTW, this looks to be a house branded cam. I see what looks like the same cam but called Mug Shot available from Tractor Supply for $60.

Anyway, I got one in and I have put it out last night. It's certainly no Proof Cam, but it worked. It looks like it's got exposure struggles and the color in the daylight looks a little washed out. The trigger seemed OK. For $20, I'd stick it out somewhere and if it gets heisted, oh well. As a bonus, it runs on rechargeables (as done my Proof) without issue, which means battery cost is close to zero for me. It takes 8 AA but it can run on 4AA. 8 will allow it to go longer before battery changes. Also, I had to format the card (I used a class 10 green Kingston) in the computer in order to get it to take any pics. The only options are 1 pic, 3 pic burst, or 10 sec 720p video. Image size is 3000x4000. Delay can be set from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. Setup was pretty simple. It did come with a strap and it has the ability to take a python but it's on the back so not much help there.

All in all, 20 bucks seems OK. Anything over 40 would be too much.

Forgot, there is some corner shading in the 4 corners where the flash is focused in too tight, but not a tunnel like some of the cheap Chinese/Amazon camera's I've seen.
