1x riflescope

Well after further research, (recommended by a friend)and this thread I decided to go against my beliefs. I bought a trijicon 1x rmr 1 moa sight. I went with trijicon for its history with reliability vs Leupold. No elevation turret, but I shot it out to 100 yards last weekend. I shot 2 different groups 2 and 3 shot groups at 100, the groups where between 1.25”-1.75”. I didn’t bother to measure, visually the groups looked great for a muzzy with a 1x aiming device. I’m hopeful to be practicing out to 300, and be hunting with this setup at 200 yards or less.

Those are pretty bulletproof overall, and have great battery life. I have one on a pistol of mine. Only thing to watch out for in using it as a field gun, especially if there's any brush or snow you're going through, is that the laser emitter is open, and can get blocked with debris. Not a major issue, but definitely something to be aware of. RMRs have been popping up more and more on dangerous-game rifles in Africa, so you're in good company.

Thanks for the advice, i definitely watch out for that. Yes I seen a YouTube video, where a guy had one in Africa on a hunt.

Was just about to pull the trigger on the Luepold RDS but then read this thread. I am very curious to hear how shooting at 200 and 300 yards goes with the Trijicon

The red dot for long range is the Aimpoint Comp M5b. It has an elevation turret, and it is reliable.

I went with a Trijicon MRO for my muzzy, still getting everything sorted out, but my main complaint so far is the clicks are so quiet and lack feel for elevation and windage that I can't adjust them at the gun range.

Needs to be a library...
