Has anyone heard anything about a possible fixed power 1x riflescope coming from any manufacturers in the near future? I have the vortex 1x on muzzy, and it gets the job done. I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but I did manage to take a buck at 166 yards last year it was like looking through a toilet paper tube. I know leupold makes a red dot with a dial, but personally I’m not a huge fan of red dots. I would love for a legit manufacturer (NF, SWFA, trijicon, maven exc.)to make a 1x fixed power. They would have lots of customers from people hunting in Washington and Utah.

I'm curious also... planning on going to the Leupold red dot but would like to see other options.

Any 1x scope is going to have that tunneling effect - I used a cheap Traditions 1x on my muzzy for several seasons and it got the job done.

If trijicon made a 1x hunting acog with an exposed elevation turret…

I have experience with the leupold rds with the exposed turret. The one I shot worked great out to 600y or so. This was mounted on a paramount. If you want to dial elevation in Utah the rds is the best option imo. I wish there were more robust options on the market. Even an MRO with a turret would be great.

I thought I say an MRO with a turret, but I think it’s a 2 moa dot, leupolds would probably be better with the 1 moa dot. Right on, 600 yards is a poke with that set up.

These are pretty tough to beat for a 1x:

I have a couple of the earlier versions, one on a turkey gun and another on a PCC, and have run them hard, all levels of shoot light except deep woods after dusk. Went with one because of a bit of an astigmatism, and even high-end red-dots do a bit of a starburst to my eyes when looking through them. Liked it so much on the shotgun that I got one for a PCC. Not my first choice for a hunting scope, of course, but if limited to a 1x legally then I wouldn't hesitate for a second in using one of these. Excellent value.

With washington now allowing 1x and having a utah general muzzloader deer tag last year I set up three muzzloaders last summer with three different optics.

I put the leupold red dot on a .45 cal lrx and could consistently get good hits at 300 yards on a 10 inch gong with decent conditions lighting and further in ideal conditions. Manipulating the brightness on the dot was key to precision shooting.
I ended up killing a buck in Utah with this setup at 110 yards.

I set up one 50 cal with the vortex 1x 22 and one with a traditions 1x32 I bought used. You already understand the limitations of the vortex so just for comparison sake I was shocked at how much better the tradition was in the tunneling category. That little bit bigger objective even with a 1inch tube made it seem far superior to the vortex. Add that with finer crosshairs and I liked it much better.
To my eye the tunneling created by the vortex makes it seem like a target is almost smaller where as the leupold and traditions didnt give that feeling.

Coming from shooting a peep setup for several years All 3 offer better light gathering over open sights but are still unlike a magnified scope in their ability to gather light at dusk. I shot the buck in challenging light conditions with shade, deer colored rocks and setting sun and it took a lot of concentration to deferentiate everything even at such a close range. Any standard magnified scope even on 3x or 4x woulda made it easy to deferentiate the view. I guess the take home to me was much like a peep the light and your eyes are a major limiting factor to range and low light abilities.

I currently prefer the leupold but I too am hoping to see a 1x offering from a reputable company. I'm hoping for something with a 30mm or large tube with minimum 32mm objective and repeatable dialing.

I did not realize the Leupold can be dialed. That seems like a good design if it turns out to be reliable.

It’s tough to find the traditions scope in stock, but that may be the way to go in the current market.

The market definitely wasn't prepared for the demand for 1x scopes last year. I found the tradition used and have seen them pop up from scheels at some point this winter.
The holy grail is the g7 nightforce made for gunwerks back when utah was 1x the first time. I've been looking hard for years but haven't found one.

I have the Vortex, Traditions, and the Primary Arms RDS. The Traditions is what we use most, but I haven't used the PA enough to judge it.
