Going on first elk hunt this year, and need a sleeping bag that will keep me warm enough in sept. All the bags I have are more or less 40 degree bags. Id like to stay around the $350 mark if i can help it.
I always try and look through Active Junky for any outdoor purchases. Look through moose jaw and find a bag you like. 10 percent back through active junky and 10 percent back in Moose Jaw points.
As other have said, keep an eye out for a Kifaru bag or go through Active Junky to Sierra TP and get a bag from them. A lot of good options and well within your budget.
Dont discount the quilt option. Research that. It’s like floorless shelters: gotta wrap your head around the concept, but you shed half the weight and it straps down to the pad and vents easily without the clostrophobic feeling—you can spread out.
$200 will get you a 0-20F down or synthetic...I have 30F down enlightened equipment and 0F viam apex
I cant see a kifaru bag being worth what they charge. You can get lighter and warmer for the same money or even less. I like quilts a lot but some people dont. Make sure you test it before you take it on the trip if you decide to get one.
Was looking at RAB. I didn’t realize they make sleeping bags. But seems a good bang for the buck from specs. Was looking at the Rab Neutrino Pro, but seems theres very little reviews or info on their sleeping bags.
