This was my father’s Winchester model 770 .270 made in 1969. Rifle comes as shown minus sling. The model 770 is the same as the model 70. It was made from 1969 until 1971 and sold through specific retailers only. It has the exact same barrel and action as the model 70 with the bottom of the stock differing. Any model 70 parts are interchangeable.
The barrel channel has been opened up on the stock allowing for a free float. The action had been glass bedded and the trigger sear was polished and adjusted to be a wonderfully crisp 1.8lbs. The trigger is adjustable and weight can be increased but not decreased any further.
The barrel and action have been cerakoted matte black and the stock has been refinished with a sims recoil pad installed. A Weaver 20moa picatinney Rail is installed and included but can be removed if desired. Rifle shoots sub moa with some factory ammunition. I haven’t reloaded for it but suspect it could shoot 1/2 - 3/4 moa with handloads.
