1911’s in general, 9mm versions specifically

General update on the Garrison 4.25" 9mm

Tested the replace ejector, first without making any profile adjustments. This was with 19# mainspring and 14# recoil spring. No malfunctions with magtech 115 or handloaded 124gr doing ~1080, however ejection pattern was very erratic.

Profiled the ejector to match the stock profile (leaned back) and also chamfered to the ejection port side. Also fit the Wilson Bullet Proof extractor. Much more consistent ejection.

Springs - the above combo works fine so far thru 300ish rounds combined of the two ammo types above, however ejection is maybe a little on the weak side. I swapped in the stock recoil spring (which SA said was 12#) and had good ejection, but a FTRTB with handload.
Now, I'm not one to get worked up about unreliable reloads, serious shooting will be with factory stuff, however I think the heavier spring is a benefit here.

Grips, been using checkered G10 grips from VZ, 20 lpi I think. I like them, but I like wood more,
so I got some checking tools. From previous discussion I'm taking a gamble that 18 lpi with 75 degree diamonds will be goldilocks. Pictures of a walnut practice piece below. It feels great on that test piece.

Couple red dirt shorts installed. Feels like cheating compared to the factory triggers. I do have a little rattle seems like from the grip safety area (dampens when it's depressed), which I think is new but not positive. I haven't decided if it's annoying enough to try to diagnose.

Curious about the difference in shooting experience /performance between the C and CS.

The C is definitely a little nicer to shoot but not by a ton with the light on CS adding a little weight. I haven’t compared without the light but I’d imagine the difference would be more notable. I do like the full size grip, which I wasn’t sure about before I got it because the compact CS grip just fits my hand so well. That said, I actually shot the CS better today for some reason but C won last time.

Nothing so far, just extrapolating about slide performance based on the 2k11s.
Do you know if the 'Next Generations' have a firing pin block?

I'd never really looked into Kimbers before, but a quick internet browse just now seemed to turn up a few 1911 forum threads of people talking about them being used on 'Series II' models. Would be interesting to know if they've moved away from that with the new offerings ...
