General update on the Garrison 4.25" 9mm
Tested the replace ejector, first without making any profile adjustments. This was with 19# mainspring and 14# recoil spring. No malfunctions with magtech 115 or handloaded 124gr doing ~1080, however ejection pattern was very erratic.
Profiled the ejector to match the stock profile (leaned back) and also chamfered to the ejection port side. Also fit the Wilson Bullet Proof extractor. Much more consistent ejection.
Springs - the above combo works fine so far thru 300ish rounds combined of the two ammo types above, however ejection is maybe a little on the weak side. I swapped in the stock recoil spring (which SA said was 12#) and had good ejection, but a FTRTB with handload.
Now, I'm not one to get worked up about unreliable reloads, serious shooting will be with factory stuff, however I think the heavier spring is a benefit here.
Grips, been using checkered G10 grips from VZ, 20 lpi I think. I like them, but I like wood more,
so I got some checking tools. From previous discussion I'm taking a gamble that 18 lpi with 75 degree diamonds will be goldilocks. Pictures of a walnut practice piece below. It feels great on that test piece.
