Guys with 16” 6.5 creedmoors - what velocities are you getting with factory ammo? Is like to go short for a general purpose hunting rifle with a suppressor, but I’m trying to get a sense for how many yards I’m giving up. I’m a 300 yard shooter right now with aspirations to go longer.

I've been shooting an 18" with hot handloads at book max. 140 eldms. 2730. Factory was closed to like 2650.

Why I swapped to a 22 Creed at 16.5". Should be at 3k or a tad under.

Norma 130s in my tikka are at 2650 avg

My handload of a 130tmk and book max imr4350 is 2570

I’ve always gotten a bit slower velocities than I see online

With a 147 ELDM @2450 fps at 5000' DA your still @ 1800 fps past 650 yards. Should be good on steel for practice to 800 yards (further but the wind call gets more precise) and able to hunt for a couple years as you gain more experience and extend your Maximum Cold Bore Range from 300 to whatever you end up at.

What load are you using to get that velocity? I was loading ELDMs with 41.5g h4350 and they shot amazing but are 2550fps from my 18” rifle. Still fine for any binding I’d do with it but it would be cool to get another 100+fps.

Edited to add:

This was a couple weekends ago when I shot up the last of this batch. It was 100ish degrees out.

Scope zero has not been adjusted since I changed stocks a while ago. I now have some Alpha OCD brass to load up and will adjust zero with that batch. The pictured brass was twice fired Hornady. It’s definitely a warm load, but I consider it totally acceptable .

Have you guys been able to compare the recoil deference between the 6.5 Creedmoor shooting a 130 TMK and a 6 Creed shooting a 108? I am wondering how much difference there is, and if it’s really that noticeable.

If I get done what I need to this weekend I’ll be shooting a 8.2lb 243 suppressed with 103gr ELDx and the 7.5lb 6.5 suppressed 130 TMK load. That would be pretty close to what you’re asking for.
