16” 7mm08

Pretty much anything would work. One of the downsides of 7-08 is it’s a boring cartridge that almost everything works really well in….

I’m at 19” and have used 162 ELD-M and 150 ELD-X. I know a few others around here running similar in 18”.

Depending on the range you’re looking for, the 120/140 NBT might be good options to get decent velocity. Berger makes a 140gr if you wanna be fancy. Load them over Varget and go kill stuff.

So these are for my buddies son. They do not reload and ttsx just didn’t perform to expectations.

I run 140 accubonds out of my 08 but I reload. Precision hunter 150 eldx are locally available that was my second choice for a bullet for them. Is 2000fps the low end of expansion on those probably?

Have them give the Superformance 139SST a shot. They shoot fast and the bullet kills well (almost too well). Or, the American whitetail 139gr.

I’d load the 120 Nosler Ballistic Tip.
Edit: just saw that they don’t reload. I’d try whatever ballistic tip I could find in factory ammo. Nosler might load 120s, 140s for sure.
120 Federal fusion might be worth a look also.

120 and 140 grain ballistic tips are rough on the deer around here in Georgia.

I'd assume the 120 would do better being a little faster. My encore had a 28 inch barrel and shot 140's very well and hammered everything I shot with it.

My 7mm-08 is 19” and it’s shooting 150 eldx at 2710. My ladder went to 2860 before showing pressure.

Can’t say enough good things about the round - cheap brass, plenty of power, easy to spot shots (with a brake), lightweight..etc.

There’s a lot of good rounds these days, anything between 22 cm and 7m-08 pretty much do the same thing.
