Looking at getting some tripod only binos and these two are in my price range. Has anyone done a comparison between the two?

I have looked through both though not side by side. I was not impressed with the Kaibabs at all. Not a sharp image and very small sweet spot. The mavens eye cups are bulky and really uncomfortable. Much better glass than the Kaibab but I wouldn't be able to stand using them for a long period of time due to those wierd eyecups. Definitely want to look through those before you buy them you may not have that problem with them. This is just my experience.
For that much money i would buy neither and hold out for a pair of used zeiss Meopta or old swaro

I used kaibabs for two years and was quite happy with them. I would have been perfectly happy going forward this year with them again but had a chance to try the meoptas . I kept the meoptas since I felt the $250 difference was justified as I glass so much with the 15x.

Thanks. I just found the review by Matt Cashell on this site on the 15x Meoptas. Sounds pretty impressive, and still in the same ballpark as far as price range.

The 15X56 Meopta's are exceptional glass for the money, IMO. They are heavy and not suited for hand held use as you probably already know. I find myself leaving my Vortex Razor 85mm in the back seat most of the time, the Meopta big eyes are just that much more pleasant to glass long distances through.... I've literally spent hours behind the Meopta's with ZERO eye strain.

the meoptas are the real deal, my favorite piece of gear I have. If my house catches on fire I'm grabbing those first then going back in to get the wife.
