He is a very motivated young man though, which is probably more than half the battle. Thanks again for your kind words. Thanks Bruce. It's a Hyperlite Mountain Gear Ultamid 2. I'm really digging on this shelter for a 2 person UL. Total wt. with everything, including designated CF pole, all 15 stakes (this is including 8-9" Cyclone Groundhogs), and all cordage is right at 32 oz.

That was a great story and photos, thanks for taking the time to post this on the forum. You're doing things right it looks like for sure. Your son has good gear and looks like he was comfortable during the hunt, which is mission critical to keeping kids "wanting" to do it again. It's been almost two weeks now since we got home and he just got caught up in school. A few nights ago as we were finishing up with school work (at 10:00 pm) after being hard on it since 3:00 pm, his mom tells him that he will not be taking time off school to go on another hunt again. Man, you would have thought his world was coming to an end....we'll see how she feels in about 11 months from now, sometimes time has a way of making people forget.
