I read elsewhere of someone claiming their 53#@30" bow with Uukha limbs shooting a 645gr arrow at 202fps.
He said he changed to a fast flight string and gained 15fps.

My BS detector went off. Am I wrong?

I have a pic on here from a few years ago of some ex1 evo 2’s and a chronograph. If I remember I was right around 190 fps , 51/52 lbs @ 31.5”. 550-560 grains. I can scroll back and find it. Roughly the same specs, but a half inch shorter draw on nika n3’s I was getting low to mid 190’s. So possible? Yyeeahh? Maybe? Not sure why they started out with a string that WASNT ff, but I doubt that was the reason. I’ve have never gotten 15fps switching to ff or a skinny string m. Half that tops. It would for sure have something to do with the right( fast) limbs on the right riser( length and pad angle ) with the right preload to get into limb where it does its best. With my long draw, 99% of the time the quietest/ fastest was NEVER bolts down, limbs maxed out to hit the weight i wanted. That’s probably why I’m back to shooting my longbows. Wood arrows may be on the horizon…

My 29.5" draw with 3 sets of uukha limbs including the irbis @ 57# will send a 550gr arrow around 185.

202 is possible but not at that arrow weight.

I was trying to be benefit of the doubt-ey, but looking at someone like Rick Barbee who gets those speeds @9-10 gpp he’s shooting in the mid 60’s I think, and with supercurve limbs. Backwoods composite I think.

@ozyclint,

that guy is full of doggy doo doo.

I shoot Uukha Selengha and sx50s at 30 1/2" DL and there is no way he is getting that speed with a 600g plus arrow.

String wise, I have shot a variety of FF materials- currently 12 strands of 652 which is the best I've used. I have never shot B55....so not sure on that but there has only been a couple FPS between FF sting materials, the biggest difference between them is sound.

My Border limbs are noticeably faster than above and those still aren't that fast. I haven't chrono'd anything in awhile...just like I could care less about FOC- it is what it is.

My heaviest arrow is 553g, I will try to pull out my chrono and check back in.

Pretty sure the vx1000s got 10 fps over the evos. Both are 10 year old designs. I'd think the latest and greatest might get there.

Oh yeah, he needs 250 spine arrows too.
For a 53# bow.

If he needs such a stiff arrow for that then there isn't an arrow made that will work for my 70# Border.

I was shooting 300s. Near full length BE rampages, iron will inserts and 200 gr heads. 53-55#@28" uukha vx1000 on a stalker ilf. Pretty sure I was at 175-180. But it's been a few years. Crushed a hog at 40 with it 😅

He's says he's got 300gr up front.
Says it does 215fps with 480gr arrows. So he adds 165gr of arrow mass and loses only 13fps??

and the new limbs must be "breaking in", "They seem to be getting faster."

Yeah they sure are.
