Not debating merits or disadvantages of 10mm. Just looking for opinions on…

Buffalo Bore 220 Hard cast

Vs

Underwood with 140 gr Xtreme Penetrator

I already know which route I’d go. Just curious what you all think.

Underwood’s seem good, that was the one I chose to go with. I opted for a heavier bullet than what you’re considering. They cycle well out of my Glock. Accurate as well. I cannot tell you how they perform on bears (luckily), but it would seem the underwood’s should penetrate better.

Didn’t see one heavier than 140.

I just bought 220 grain flat nose black cherry rounds for my 10mm Glock. 200 grain rounds are tough to find. Hope to have them and try them out this weekend

Depends on your intended target.....self defense for Brown Bear, Black Bear, Cougar Or Hunting Wild Hog, Deer? All will vary what bullet.

BB Outdoorsman as that is what I have for four-legged threats and Federal HST for two-legged threats.

But are there any real-world documented instances of Underwoods being used on a PO'd coastal or grizzly? Not really looked but figured I'd ask.

The question is which 10mm are you using? Ive been toying with the idea of getting one for packing in the woods. Was initially looking at the Springfield XDM, but now Sig has their Xten out.

I carry the Buffalo Bore hardcast 220gr for bear season in my "little" G29. I also keep a mag with 200gr Speer Gold Dots and a mag with regular 180gr fmj. I just switch mags depending on the purpose.

I’ve heard going heavier than 200 grains may be problematic in some guns. That’s what I stuck with, and no issues. My Glock has double recoil springs to address those issues. I might be wrong, but earlier gens and some other 10 mm may only have one spring, and that’s where the issue lies. I’m of a zero tolerance mindset on weapons malfunctioning in self defense scenarios. The most expensive/accurate gun becomes a rock if it fails to fire when called upon. I ran several boxes of the 200 grain underwood’s through my Glock in rapid fire, and with every mag I own to have confidence in their performance. Accuracy was as good as I can shoot with irons, which is a little better than your average Joe. You may do better in that department.

200 grain in is the sweat spot for both my Glock 29 and Glock 40mos. I've run Gizzly, Underwood and Buffalo Bore. They all cyle fine, 220 I had cycling/feeding issues.

Were your feeding issues consistent or occasional? Happen right away or showed up later?

Asking since I’ve not had my XD-M that long and not had an issue with my 220s. But I’ve also not shot a ton of them.

The xdm can handle the 220 grain with no problem. Look it up on youtube and you will see that while others have problems with high pressure hard cast bullets the xdm does not have issues. Fatrascal.

Try finding the long slide / barrel for less than a mortgage payment.

These just came in the mail for me. I’m going to try and carry this damn hog leg. Probably a mistake but I can’t justify buying a new gun right now. Will be putting some new grips on it. Alaska moose lake hunt. Will also have rifle. Most days will entail relatively short hike to glassing spot. Just figure it can’t hurt to have.

Partner just bought a G20. That and Buffalo bore 220. I’m not wild about the hard cast in a Glock barrel or the 220 grain with factory spring. Hopefully the first one does the trick and no follow ups needed. In my mind, if that’s the route you’re going to take, then bring a 500. Hahaha. Not that my set up isn’t without its own flaws. Way too awkward of a full time carry. About to get a few harnesses on order. That definitely is a big hog leg and the 44 mag will get the job done. How many rounds does it hold?
The new Glock generation 5 is supposed to have corrected the high pressure issues that they were experiencing with previous generations but I cannot tell you through my owne experience and I have not seen any tests. They have gotten away from the octagon barrel and now have a barrel with rifling. Time will tell.

6 rounds. S&W 629 with 7.5 barrel.

Didn’t know Gen 5 had those changes. In fact, didn’t even know there was a Gen 5
